If a composition doll has light to moderate crazing do you believe it should be restored or left alone with the dolls original finish?

I believe it should be left alone. I believe in preserving as much originality as possible.

As a doll doctor I repair anything the customer wants. If a doll has crazing I restore it. I do not use any of the products on the market, I have my own methods. BUT---My own dolls keep their crazing. Of course if it is heavy crazing on the verge of cracking, I restore it. But if it is light crazing or crazing without paint lifting, I say leave it alone! What do you think--I would like to here other opinions on this and why-I look forward to hearing from you doll lovers out there!! Louise

A large part of an old doll's charm is the evidence they carry of their long life. If you want a new-looking doll, you might as well buy a reproduction!
